Well, finally, after what seems like many weeks, I am back up and able to blog, so hopefully I didn’t loose too many of you in my absence. After that last post where I mentioned how much of a pain and how slow it was to work on my desktop pc, I tried to post further items using it, only to find out that I had insulted it one too many times and it had decided to no longer work for me (or anybody else for that matter). Being a computer guy I tried replacing all of the parts and diagnosing it the best I could, only to find that the power supply, motherboard, and probably everything attached to it had gotten fried somehow. I blame it on Oscar, the Cat of Death.

So after many weeks of internet withdrawal I received my new laptop in the mail (it came in a rather large, overstuffed envelope). And now that I have it, I have set before myself the task of posting about a bunch of different items that I had stored away in my mind to talk about, but had no way of posting for the last few weeks. So, hopefully, after my brief absence I will be able to get right back into it and get back to a regular blogging schedule.

Oh, and I hope you like the new look (to be honest I’m not sure who I changed it for you or me).

This past Saturday, we were expecting to have some of Dustin’s family over. So, of course what do I do? The day before I begin cleaning my house from top to bottom beginning at 7pm, and finally finishing a little after 1am. I was beat. So, the next morning I was upstairs just tidying up a little more, when I get a shout from my husband to bring down lots of towels. To my surprise (and I’m sure Dustin’s as well) Rachael had flooded our guest bathroom downstairs. How you say? Well the little sneak, while daddy and mommy were in other rooms, opened the bathroom door, stood on the toilet to reach over to the sink, pulled the plug up on the drain and turned the water on. Then she walked out of the bathroom and shut the door behind her, so you couldn’t hear the water running. Oh, the joy of having a child! I would say it was at least 45 minutes later that she ran and got daddy to tell him there was water on the floor in the bathroom. We had asked Rachael if she flooded the bathroom, and with a straight look on her face she said “nooo.” But, after the mess was cleaned up, i asked her again if she flooded the bathroom, then the real answer came out “Yes.” I’m soo looking forward to our water bill. But, hey, at least the flooding didn’t last for 40 days and 40 nights.

Sometimes life can come at you so fast that it might seem like the only view of God that you get is in the moments of helplessness. And as long as the autopilot of your life is running without a problem, He might be missed for the ease of it all. But hit a bump in the road and all of the sudden that’s God’s fault. No repentance for trusting in the ease and becoming complacent, but only blame for the broken road.

Recently God threw a pothole into my nicely paved road. I was going along fine on cruse control and He decided that I had become too comfortable, so He broke my road. (I’ll leave the discussion of God breaking my road or me breaking it and God just letting it happen for another day). It doesn’t matter why the road is harder, it just is.

God didn’t break my road because He wanted to hurt me, He broke it to get my attention. He broke it to show me that I trusted too much in the journey, and not enough on Him who gives life and breath and all things. My life is not about how comfortably I make it to the finish line, but about how closely I trust in my redeemer.

My problems today are nothing when viewed through eternal eyes. And I would be arrogant to think that I could handle my problems on my own. Please pray for me and my family as we go through some growth in our lives (no, not the kind of growth that makes the family bigger, the spiritual kind). Pray for us that we would remain focused on who it is that can bring us out of the pit that we’ve gotten ourselves into.

Usually I feel in control of my life, but now all I feel is that helplessness that helps me to remember how small I am. Please pray that God would help me to remain focused on Him, and not just life. Nothing would be worse than missing God because of the beauty and peace of His creation.

We didn’t work so hard this weekend as we were so exhausted from last week. We did get some stuff done, like now we have a working refrigerator in the house and have some (although little) food in the house which is great. We just needed some time to just sit around for a while to catch up with the rest of our lives. I did get in some game time though too which was nice. Man we still got a ton of work to do though.
