Man, I must be such a cynic to post this vdeo, but oh how true it is. But I got to say that it’s still not as funny as the one they did for George Bush vs John Kerry of 2004 called This Land. (Both videos have a little language, sorry).

Stumbleupon is a terrible creation of the devil. If you don’t know what I mean, you haven’t used it. It finds all kinds of websites on the Internet that you never would have found otherwise and sucks away your life, hours at a time. There’s no better way to waste away your life than to stumble upon all of the crazy stuff out there on the Internet, and waste away time that you could be spending doing other more productive things.

That being said, as I was stumbling last night I found this video that totally inspired me to go out and do something fun this weekend. See what you think below. I bet you’ll laugh, and I bet you’d agree that me jumping out of a trash can at you would be terrifying.

What We Deserve from God

There are a lot of people out there that believe that humans (on the whole) are born good and deserve good from God because of they are “not bad people”. However, this is not what the Bible teaches about what we deserve from God. On Sunday, the pastor talked about love (or romance or sex or something, I’m not quite sure, as he wasn’t very clear) and he made the point that “God deserves our best”, which I agree with. But he also made the point then that “we deserve God’s best,” which as you’ve guessed, I don’t agree with.

I think the Bible is clear that we deserve nothing from God but death and hell. We don’t deserve His love or His patience. We don’t deserve His mercy or His grace. And to say that we do, even as Christians, is a misunderstanding of the Gospel. The gospel isn’t that God gave us what we deserved in Jesus. It is that while we deserved death and hell, God had mercy on us and sent His Son to die in our place. And even after Jesus died and we were given grace, it would be a terrible mistake to assume that because we are Christians that we deserve anything from God. We are not any more deserving of answered prayers or providence than people who aren’t Christians.

We don’t deserve God’s best, because we are sinful and wicked people (all people, even Christians). We deserve to die. But Jesus died in our place. And in Him we have all blessings. That is the gospel. That’s why I love Jesus so much. I love Him because He didn’t give me what I had earned (because that would have been hell), but He gave me amazing love and grace which only He could give. So, let’s not think for a minute that we deserve anything from God other than hell. But let’s worship Him as the only giver of life and joy and all good things who gives out of the abundance of His grace, because of who He is, not because of who we are.

Talk Like a Pirate Day

Between all o’ t’ birthdays, anniversaries, and national holidays that we’ve got t’ remember, we can’t forget about some o’ t’ more important international holidays. Like, today. Septemeber 19 be International Talk Like a Pirate day.

So, when you be at work or school today, make aye t’ answer t’ phone or talk t’ your buckos as any good pirate would. Say thin’s like “ahoy”, “avast”, and “arrrr”. But just remember, it be “International Talk Like a Pirate Day”, not “International Act Like a Pirate Day”, so no pillagin’.

Alina’s Crazy Eating Habits

We just got back from our after church lunch at Scotty P’s (a greasy chili covered burger place). And, I tell you what, Alina has some weird little quirks. I have seen a lot of them, but it is true that you don’t really know a person until you eat a greasy chili burger with them. Instead of picking the burger up, like a normal person, she leaves it on the plate and uses a fork and knife to eat it as if it’s a steak or something nice. But it was a chili burger, I mean the bun is there as a holder for the meat and cheese. The point of the bun is “to make meat a portable item that can be picked up and eaten with one’s own hands” (dict: dw), that’s the point. Your not supposed to use a fork and a knife to eat it, that’s why God gave you hands and gave man the mind to create the bun so that using your hands while eating meat can be OK.

The other thing that she does that drives me nuts when it comes to eating happens when she eats salad. First off, she orders the dressing on the side (which, by the way, defeats it’s purpose, if something is called dressing, that means it’s purpose is to be put on to something), but that in and of itself is not that crazy, but it gets worse. To eat the salad, she gets her fork and dips it into the dressing (maybe that’s where the dressing comes into play; it is dressing the fork after all), and then picks up some salad with her fork. She doesn’t pour the dressing onto the salad, she dips her fork into the dressing and then picks up salad. I think that’s just crazy, and I know where she gets it: her mother (I’ve seen her do it too).

I’m glad that I’m perfectly normal and don’t have any quirky things about me, I mean at least one of us is normal.
