You know, Mercy Me is a very dynamic and passionate group. I love their music, and how powerful the words are. The one thing I've noticed, too, is that this song is played everywhere...movie theatres, Starbucks, and where I've heard it the most is as a ringer for cell phones. What I find very disturbing at times, especially with the people who use this song as a ringtone is hearing the song play, then once the person is off the phone they start swearing...I don't understand the mentaliity of people who listen to this music, but have no desire to apply it to their daily lives. I think people use this song as a comfort for themselves to make themselves feel better about their lives, instead of turning to the God that is the only one that can make their lives better. Another Christian group I hear a lot of is Switchfoot. It seems like everyone knows who this group is, but, can't tell you what the meaning of the songs truly are. I think we get so caught up in the sound and beat of the music, we can sometimes forget to really listen to what the words are saying..as Dustin showed in Mercy Me's, "I can only Imaging." Lyrics are very powerful, and I think if people really sat down to listen they'd find that they get so much more out of the song.
